Hi i was on your show several years ago when i was on rikers island in the fresh start program im the guy with the big beard doing the spoken word poetry

I was wondering if you could do a documentary on new jersey state prison in trenton, new jersey. Though they do have alot to hide so I don't know if they'll let you or not. Also, do you have any advice on how to get someone transferred to another prison if the prison wants to keep them there just to harass them and to violate the few civil rights that they have?
Hi Elise,
I am a 25 year old Producer in Detroit, MI. Right now, I work for a regional sports network and am able to work on some pretty unique projects...but I wanted to pick your brain for a second on how to make the next step. Lockup: Raw is an excellent show and not only do I watch it for pure entertainment value, but I love to watch it from a "behind the camera" perspective as well. I try to sometimes model the structure of your shows to mine, the way the interviews and on-the-fly mic'd up scenarios unfold. Really, I've learned quite a bit picking apart shows such as Lockup, and if it wasn't for you that wouldn't be possible. So, I wanted to know the path that you took to Executive Producing such a cool show, as well as get some advice from you on how to make the next step. Do you think you could give me some pointers?
Thanks Elise! All the best, James in Detroit
I forgot to mention, the reason Kinslow wants me dead,,, when he murdered my best friend and her two little girls, he held my family hostage and raped my little girl,, when i got my family to safety,, I turned Kinslow in,,, when i refused to BACK OUT of testifying against him,, kinslow sent me a threatning letter, that he would sign charges against my brother and I,,, That letter was withheld from the courthearings,, I The letter was returned to me by the prosecuters office,,, 7 years after the fact,, thanks Brenda
my daughter and i watched the prison show lock up extended stay,, and was shocked that you never told of kinslows real murder, rape of kids as well as my own daughters rape. he didnt just abducted that other family,, he raped them too,,, but you never told that. I am james perrins sister,,, you know the black spot burned into the cement floor during the riot,,,, that keeps reappearing,, he keeps returning because he was innocent,,, a victim of kinslow. kinslow set my brother up and had him shanked prior to the riots. kinslows victims never benefited by the many lawsuits kinslow has filed and won monotary judgements,,, he keep pocketing the money. kinslow never tells you why he killed so many people did he. while kinslow enjoys his money victories,,, we have to fight with the parole board to keep him locked up,,, you know after all his murders,, hes still elegible for parole?? i wish youd give the victims a chance to a face to face meeting so we could ask kinslow why he killed and raped our love ones. i have to live in hiding and fear that kinslow might escape again,, and i have always been his target. the description of my brothers murder in the riot is not true,,, we have the photos and autopsy results of my brother,,, anyway thank you for the story,,,, can you imagine how we,, his victims feel to see how covered up kinslows murdeous and rapes were,,,, kinslow deliberately hogged the cameras,,, i wonder if he would try to hog the cameras if ever his victims were given the chance to sit across from him. ,, in a face to face interview??? thank you brenda
Elise,
My mom & I saw last night on MSNBC the episode of Lockup Extended where you spent quite a lot of time interviewing James (Jimmy) Kinslow. While I can appreciate what you tried to do, as one of his original surviving victims (I was raped (age 5) and me and my family held hostage by him right after he killed Patricia Andrews and her two daughters. It made me sick to see him gloat on the tv, claim to be Native American when he's NOT, and my mom and I would love nothing more than to be able to tell OUR story......would be even better if we were able to confront him face to face.
Kinslow had a parole hearing not too long ago. I do believe that somehow, my uncle James PERRIN (someone also mentioned on the episode, having been killed in the 1980 riot and also an innocent victim of Kinslow's lies) - the man who left a black spot that will never go away behind on the floor of the prison where he was murdered - told me to place a call to the Victim's Assistance Unit at Santa Fe....and come to find out, he was scheduled for his first parole hearing in years. The parole board kindly gave mom and I the opportunities to submit letters asking for parole to be denied, to be read during his hearing. Thankfully, we have peace again knowing that he will never get out of prison.
Elise, my mom and I would love to chat with your producers and show you everything that we have from what took place in Chaparral, NM all those years ago, the lies that he told, and the pain that it caused that will never subside.
Kinslow's not human, he's an animal. Clearly, all this time in prison has done nothing for him. He's a murderer, a kidnapper, a child rapist, and a pathological liar.
Y'all told his story - please, now give us a chance to tell ours.
Lisa Ward Williams
Hi everyone and thank you Lockup editors and staff for your show. As a former inmate of California Department of Corrections, you show touches me deeply. I recently watched some previous episodes regarding some Victim Impact panels and interviews with many "Lifers" across the country. I would ask that you try to find a California Lifer, Richard M., B-#####. As you can tell, by hi CDC# he has been in for some time. Without telling his story, I would request that you research him and find out if he would be someone that might interest you. He has written a book, a twelve step recovery book, "Criminals and Gang Members Anonymous". I met Richard on a special needs yard in 1997. He told me that he could "show me a new way to live, one that I would never have to return to prison again". Next month will be my 10 year anniversary of my Parole date. I have never returned to prison, my voting privileges have been restored, I own my own business, pay taxes, and I am living a life beyond my wildest dreams. It was through Richard's past, and his honest desire to selflessly help me and others that a door was opened for me to live in society. I owe Ricahrd M a debt of gratitude that I can never repay, except by continuing to try to carry the message that change is possible You may try to Google Criminals and Gang Members Anonymous. Thank you Wayne T

I'm writing to ask if there is any possible internship available for this show, I am a Junior at the University of Texas-Pan American and I hope to graduate May 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Communications Journalism-TV/RADIO Broadcasting, I would really appreciate it if you could email me and inform me on any internship available. I really love the show, it makes you feel like you are there saying the inmates face to face, and lets you get a glimpse of how their daily lives are.

Hello, I think your lockup series is great, but hey, have you ever considered working with a person, a man and former inmate who served 33 years on a life sentence? I was sentenced to life for PC187, Murder 1st, in 1974, and was granted a parole in 2004 and released shortly there after. I was in San Quentin from 1975 to 1986, DVI (Tracy) from 1986 to 1988 then to CMC from 1988 to 2004, when I paroled. I have discharged my prison number, and no longer responsible to CDC. What is really hard out here is finding a job with my felony. Although, on the inside, I was a jack of many trades, and my job skills where in demand, out here is a little bit different. I feel truly blessed that I was one of the few who was released, and I won't go back ever again. I went in a young kid, member of an outlaw motor cycle club, and a drug and alcohol abuser. My first 10 years I was involved in stabbings, I even got stabbed, drugs, everything and I loved the ciaos of San Quentin. Then I was forced to go to NA, in 1984, and I have been clean and sober since 1985. The program, along with a higher power, changed my life and I give all the credit for my release to that program and all the things I was capable of achieving because of the NA program. If you can use my help, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely yours, Dennis
Great show. I went on a tour of Corcoran State prison a few weeks back, & you guys really give a great picture of the life there. Next to the tour, your show is the best.
Great job, & thanks
